DVD Authoring:
The DVD standard has become a viable option
for your video projects.
Our capabilities include anything you would
want for a DVD title. From a simple "video on a
disk", to an advanced interactive experience, Video
Impressions can do it all. Motion menus, alternate
languages, subtitles, closed captioning, web-enabling, and
dual-layer programming, are just a few of the capabilities we have
available in house.
While we have many authoring solutions
available, there are a few common steps involved in transferring
your project to DVD.
Step 1: Encoding:
Transferring your program to DVD starts with
either our real- time MPEG2 encoding hardware, or our direct
digital transfer from any of our digital NLE edit suites. Either
option gives
us the ability to encode video in real time, at up to the DVD
specification limit of 10 MB/sec providing the best possible MPEG2
quality..
Step 2: Menu Creation:
Menus are created in industry standard tools
like Photoshop and brought into our DVD authoring software.
Any form of graphic elements can be used to create just the right
look for your program.
Step 3: Programming/Authoring:
The authoring phase is where it all comes together. Video
and audio clips are linked to the menus, as well as each
other. Whether you want the ability to jump to different
parts of your program, be able to loop your program
indefinitely, or create a dual-layer user-interactive title, we can do it.
Step 4: Recording to DVD-R:
The final step is achieved by creating a DVD-R. This produces a
DVD compatible disk which will play on set top DVD players, in all
of the standard DVD formats available today..
If you require mass quantities of your final DVD-R, a master image
file can be created and sent off for duplication.
DVD on a PC:
If you have a project for which distribution is intended to be
on a PC, we can also create a self contained DVD quality CD. This
solution uses software DVD emulation. This software provides you
with a virtual DVD player, giving you access to all of the
standard DVD options. Performance is dependant on the host
PC. Typically systems with 300 mhz processors or higher are
required for best results.
If DVD quality is not the driving issue in your project we can
also author a stand alone MPEG-1 solution for PC distribution.
This solution includes all of the features mentioned above, with a
MPEG-1 encoded signal.
If your project involves video and computer technology we have
a solution for you.
